In collaboration with San Francisco’s Artaud Theater, One People Voice is proud to announce Connect, 16 days of performances and workshops in San Francisco’s warehouse district in the Mission. Running from July 29th through August 21st, the project will feature dance, theater, music, film, cabaret circus acts, aerial installations, and innovative musical fusions. Workshops will be offered in dance, human beat box (akim funk buddha), and kecak [pronounced KETjak], more commonly known as monkey chant from Bali. The collaboration involves over 20 international artists.
A hybrid processional orchestra and chant ensemble, One
People Voice has performed at many festivals in the United States
and recently wrapped up a very successful tour of Bali and Java, Indonesia
where they performed their production of “Situbanda” at the Bali Arts
Festival and at the 10th annual Javanese Yogyakarta Gamelan Festival.
One People Voice will also conduct Kecak workshops throughout the run
of the connect event.
